Andrea S.
“Raising a child with ADHD, explains the author, is about accepting where your child is at and not what your expectations were. Ideal for parents with an early diagnosis of their child’s ADHD. Also ideal for frustrated educators less familiar with families living with ADHD. Highly recommend it!”
Tanya K.
“This book is wonderfully readable and even more relatable. It will both reassure and inspire you. I am grateful to have discovered it– it has given me more understanding, patience and grace as a parent, a spouse and a friend. I highly recommend it for everyone!”

I highly recommend this book for its genuine insight, compassion, and the tangible sense of hope it provides.”

“Reading it feels like a huge hug from someone who “gets it.” Tenderness and loving-kindness wrap each word. The author has two sons with ADHD who are on the Forbes “30 Under 30” list — super impressive. So glad she shared her wisdom, and open heart, with the world!”
Lisa W.

There’s so much to be learned from this book, to help parents improve their parenting skills and raise happier, more well-adjusted kids.”

“‘AS IS’ is unique among the many books I’ve read on ADHD, with Lippman guiding the reader through her own parenting experiences as a backdrop for insights she gained and shares here with grit and grace, insights that I think could be helpful for ANY parents of young or teenaged children.”
Marc G.
“Lippman’s book should be required reading for every teacher, principal, and psychologist in elementary schools. Her detailed exploration of ADHD offers a profound understanding that can transform the educational environment for these children. I was so moved by her work that I bought five copies to share.”
Paula F.
“What an amazing book – if you are a parent struggling with the ups and down of parenting a child with ADHD or any behavioral issue – this is a must-read!”
Joey W.

Emiliya Z.
“When I tell people what I’m reading, I’m shocked that most are one-degree of separation from someone they care about with ADHD. I now gift them this book.”
Lisa W.
“Literally changed my relationship for the better with my 16-year-old daughter. A complete game changer for parents, especially those raising children with ADHD. What makes this book particularly impactful is its emphasis on accepting children as they are and helping parents understand their own responses and emotions. This awareness creates a strong foundation to guide your kids (and yourself).”

Shelley Lippman
I am a certified transformation coach and positive psychology practitioner, specializing in helping parents who are raising children with ADHD. I have a Master’s Degree in communications and training at the ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA) and Cornell University in conflict resolution. I am a mom of three kids in their twenties, two of whom have ADHD. I’ve been in the trenches.
When my eldest was born, I was beyond ecstatic. I had dreamed of being a mom ever since I could remember. He was happy and easy and friendly and I thought, “Now, aren’t I just the greatest mother?!”
And then he turned two and his ADHD (which we didn’t know at the time) raged forth, turning my happy baby into an unpredictable, volatile, and emotional kid. I assumed I had somehow failed.
My husband and I worried and stressed, disagreed a lot, and took each phone call from the school very personally. We agonized about our son’s future. We doubted our instincts and decisions. We felt alone, anxious, frustrated, disconnected and sad…
I wish I had known then what I know now.
What I learned – through years of trial and error, decades of research, training and hundreds of conversations – is that we, as our child’s parents, are the authority. When you finally learn to trust yourself and to shut out all the noise in favour of a few simple truths, you will be free to connect with your child in new and profound ways. This raises children with confidence and courage.
We ultimately raised our son to be a self-assured, loving, successful adult who married the love of his life and just became a dad. He and our other son (who has ADHD and dyslexia), were voted onto the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for the business they started in their early twenties (instead of attending university). The road was not smooth, but my journey raising our kids has gifted me the opportunity to help other families bringing up amazing kids with ADHD.
“Encouraging someone to be entirely themselves is the loudest way to love them.”
